I think data collection survey's can be useful for getting feedback on projects or groupwork. In the context of this assignment, using only numbers, it could also be helpful for reporting scores. Extracting excel data from a quiz or survey and looking at the mean, mediain, and mode can give a picture of how the class is doing. As a history teacher, quizzes and tests can give an quick image on class retention.  I enjoyed seeing everyone's work and effort. Classmates went all out and you can tell they enjoyed blogging. Some topics and feelings are shared and others are not. I think that it's super important to have diverse opinions within a class, and especially in education.  I would like to learn how to make infographics and digital media myself. Canva and other resources are great to help get a quick thought or image out there. But it is very template heavy and the best ones are behind a pay wall. By getting, a photoshop certification, for example, I can be the master of m...

As a distanced learner I enjoyed the new experience and freedom of learning remotely. I enjoyed the structure of the school day and in class instruction, but from the comfort of my home. This allowed me to set my own schedule and pace along side school, which is not too different from online classes such as this one. However, I disliked the lack of social ability with my peers and as a teacher I might assign more group projects or encourage educational chats or assignments.  OER or open educational resources are essentially educational resources that are "open"or available to use and access by anyone. This is extremely beneficial as you can r etain, r euse, r evise, r emix, and r edistribute the resource however you like. Going on Wikimedia Commons, which has a collection of OER pictures, I found a reinactment of an American Revolution battle. It depicts Militia men open firing aty Fort Lee in New Jersey.  https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:2017_Retreat_Weeke...

Mrs. Lizetta Neil of Hartsfeild Elementary in Leon County has a class page for her second grade class that includes announcements and positive feedback. It also includes lessons in a layout that is easy to understand within the time frame of a week. It then has links to resources relating to lessons and subject areas. The links themselves are organized by week as well. You can find the website here at: https://www.leonschools.net/Page/42561   Personally I can see myself developing websites and online tools such as newsletters to keep parents informed. As a teacher it is my responsibility to effectively and effeciently keep parents involved and up to date on their child's learning. Canvas is also another great tool that can be informative and help keep a well organized center. Using sites such as Canva and Weebly can help me develop the tools I need to present information in an aesthetically pleasing way.  For Assignment 2 I enjoyed how easy it is to set everything up. It has o...

I enjoy using Diigo to an extent. I feel as the concept is interesting and can be a useful tool for both students and educators. For example, tools such as bookmarks and sticky notes are extremely helpful when sharing. However the accessibility and format of the site can be confusing and lowers my enjoyment a significant amount.  I enjoy blogging! Getting my thoughts out there and reflecting on the weeks lessons helps to frame concepts in terms of my goals as a possible educator. I have learned about the many tools available to format my blog and help it look professional. It has been a good experience so far as educational blogger.  Edsby an Web 2.0 tool that I would use in my classroom. It is an online education hub that can house a number of classes, links, and groups that can help foster an online community in the classroom. Allowing students the freedom to exist online in an educational setting is an extremely important skill that I feel Edsby provides. As the teacher I c...

Interacting with educational-related twitter accounts such as the U.S Department of education and education week have kept me "plugged in". Staying up to date on new information, resources, and educators. Twitter can be a beneficial tool to stay connected especially later on in my career as times change. Constantly improving as an educator with educators around me.  The digital divide can prevent students success by limiting the work they can do outside the classroom. Assigning homework that requires the internet or technologies not available to them can cause issues with completing those assignments. This can be caused by the location, such as a rural town, or the socioeconomic status of the family. As a classroom teacher I should be mindful of the technologies available to students at home and make sure assignments are not giving students with technology an advantage.  I would like to implement Microsoft Word which can allow for word processing and a number of tools for cre...

Standard SC.68.CS-PC.4_2 essentially focuses on copyright; what it is and the benefits. A 6-8 grade standard, I feel relatively okay with implementing this standard. Given that last week we worked on copyright and fair use I feel knowledgeable on the topic. Implementing this standrad would require reources and a lesson plan that I feel ill equiped to tackle.  I chose standard  SS. 912.A.2.1 which is on Linclon and the Civil War. The Related Resource section gives a multitude of lesson plans and supplements. When trying to teach this in the classroom, CPALM could be used for powerpoint, videos, tutorials, etc. Which would allow me to give students an effective overview, key points, and supplements such as videos so they can meet standard and be aligned with a universal system for learning.  Internet searching can be helpful in yeilding specific results. As a teacher this is especially important for finding resources or relevant information regarding a l...
